MEET THE LOCALS: hebridean soundscapes

Join professional musician Charlie Grey on our newest and most exclusive island experience; an immersive exploration of Lismore's ancient landscape and musical heritage.

Charlie will take you on an explorative walk to Lismore's Iron Age Broch*, where he will highlight natural and historical features in the surrounding landscape and play compositions that resonate with the landscape. The Broch is situated at a high vantage point with 360 degree views of the island, looking up and down the Great Glen and  towards Ben Nevis, Ben Cruachan, Kingairloch estate, the Morvern peninsula & the Isle of Mull - the ideal place to listen to Charlie's atmospheric tunes and stories, and take in Lismore's scenery.

Charlie Grey is a skilled fiddle player who draws inspiration from the Hebridean landscapes he grew up in and the legacy of his forebears, like his grandmother Ishbell Macaskill who was a traditional Scottish Gaelic singer. Charlie's music is deeply rooted in the landscape of the Highlands & Islands and is a perfect fit for our tours. He moved to Lismore in 2019 with his partner Iona & collie dog Hector, and we are delighted to have him as a part of the Explore Lismore team!
